Did you list your blogging goals for the New Year? Blogging alone takes hard work, but blogging with kids and a family to raise, well, that is a challenge!
You know you are a blogger when all you do is spend your extra time on your blog. Some people go out to earn a living, others stay home and work. Blogging has paved a way for many moms to earn a living from home while they care for their families. Even single moms stepped up to the blogging challenge!
One thing you learn about blogging is the process is never-ending. You grow as a blogger and keep learning new things. Technology changes, readers want to read new things, and the world’s events color our online world. Gone are the days when the Web was not the “real” world. We entered Web 3.0 and life looks a whole lot different.
Reach Your Blogging Goals
So, what are your blogging goals? Make a list if you have to, but usually, we all want to:
- Make more money
- Bring more web traffic
- Improve our blog’s appearance
- Make it more efficient
How do we accomplish that? What will help us reach our goals? Try these tips to help you increase your productivity and consequently reach your blogging goals.
Write For Traffic Dividends
Literally, your writing pays you online, over and over again when you share your work. When you write somewhere, your words multiply into more traffic to your blog, especially when you link it. Strategically place your writing in places where it will be seen over and over again with links back to your blog helps.
Set Traffic Goals
Blogging means routing enough traffic to your blog. When you achieve one level of traffic, work towards another. Think about how you will do it and what strategies you will use. The more traffic you get, the more opportunities you have to make an income.
Spread Out Your Sharing
How many social media accounts do you have for your blog? Is it one or more? When you share your posts, do you do it on one social media account? Or, do you share on two or three? Further, do you spread out your sharing or bunch it up in one push-out?
Blog For Others Sometimes
You know, sometimes writing or blogging for a unique purpose or even for activism pays off in its own way. Write for nonprofits or other organizations that have a mission in the community. Participate in guest posts or offer to allow others to guest post for you. Share your gift; it is there for a reason.
Ignore The Hecklers
You know, the ones who think they need to make snarky comments in your blog. Oh, they are out there, and we may want to respond to them, but do it after you earn your keep. The hecklers will be there, and they will even respond to it if you poke at them enough. Delete their remarks, and then block them off of your comment stream. Don’t give them another thought.

Stay The Course
When you blog or write for money, you write with a purpose. Sure, some days it is nice to write creatively or on a unique project you have, but in all honesty, you if you blog for a living then do that first.
The creative projects may pay off some, but writing for bread and butter is just that. Get your words on the screen, hold your audience, and then move on to the next piece. The better you get at it, the more time you have for your projects.
Set A Published Word Limit
Do set a daily word limit to get the job finished. Don’t just “plan” on writing something, only to get stuck in creativity. If you write for money, you need to keep writing, not give up. Write a minimum of 1,000 words per post, especially if you are just beginning. Then, publish at least 2 times a week.
Make it clean and error-free. Then share it on social media.
Query And Search For Job Leads
If you write as a freelance writer, query daily emails and line up long-term projects. Do this regularly. Even if you write and receive a regular paycheck, picking up the extra writing jobs or side gigs helps keep the money coming in. You never know what is going to happen.
Join Blogging Groups
There are plenty of blogging groups on Facebook that fit into just about any genre. Most bloggers in these groups blog for money. Find the blogging groups that work for you. Participate in groups that practices courtesy and fits your blogging skills.
Be a part of something that helps you promote your work and further your business, but remember that many groups won’t let you share your blog URL. Still, there will be occasions when you meet someone, or they have a link sharing day. The point of a blogging group, though, is to talk shop and learn about blogging.
Take Breaks
Some days, taking a blogging break is in order. You know, just to give your brain a break. Some days it pays off to take a blogging break only to gather your strength. Blogging requires constant problem-solving, and some days you need a break. Take a day off and come back with fresh eyes.
Stay The Course to Reach Your Blogging Goals
Focus on your blogging goals. Sure, you write many days, but what else needs to be done to promote your blog traffic, or what product should you create?
Trying to write your amazing masterpieces in your downtime. Save those creative endeavors for the time when you have your bread and butter, and you can afford to work on them.
When you are ready, you will be amazed at how quickly your special projects will come together. Truly, good work sits and refines itself in your mind until the time is right. Until then, blog for your bread and butter and dream of the days to come. Reach your blogging goals until then and make it your job.
